AMELIA ROWCROFT, SCULPTOR

From her studio in Lewes, East Sussex, Amelia produces fine art alongside commercial and private commissions. If you would like to discuss a project with Amelia, she is open to all types of sculpture commissions, including portraits and figures for museums, visitor attractions and outdoor spaces. She has a background in working in film and television, and takes commissions for featured and “hero” props for any type of production. She is experienced at working at any scale. She also welcomes portrait commissions, which involve the subject being available for a brief photographic reference sitting.

Amelia shares her knowledge through accessible and affordable online courses through Sculpting Masterclass. Her courses on portraiture, anatomy and figure sculpting are highly respected and sold worldwide.

Amelia seeks to represent what it is to be human through her sculptures.

Portraiture is about capturing the spirit of a person. An artist and subject develop a relationship through the sculpting process, and portraits convey this intimacy to a viewer.

When working from life, Amelia works with her subjects to find a pose that conveys a mood or feeling. Through in-depth understanding of the mechanics of the human body, she builds her portraits and figures out loosely and expressively from a solid structure before finding forms and refining the surface.
